About
Adirondac began as a hobby between two musically inclined bachelors, Adam and Paul, in the fall of 2009. It had been almost 8 years since Paul had picked up his guitar, he played in the punk band Spendthrifts with his good friend Eric back in the day in Cincinnati. Adam brought some gear and some crucial band experience in Serrated, Bloated Cataract, and Stereo Sedative to the table. Also, having been a recording engineer at Ghetto Love Electro-Recordings in Chicago, he could direct the project.

So it began, hours of sessions on Cubase while programming drums. Both guys having day jobs (Adam, a field engineer for a tech company and Paul, an art teacher) made for a fluctuating schedule of creating material. Having minimal gear didn’t help either. Over the course of 2009-10 things were beginning to come together, however something was still missing. It was the drums. Paul decided to give Eric a call, the only possible issue, he was living in Seattle, and lacking a drum kit. Eric’s computer and drum knowledge turned into a crash course on MIDI and Superior Drummer, while killer design skills helped give Adirondac an identity. This enabled Adam to focus on bass, guitar, and mainly synths/recording/mixing.

The learning curve was steep when it came to figuring out a system for writing music with two members in Chicago, and the other in Seattle. With no deadlines, more investments in equipment, more practice, and lots of file swapping on Dropbox, a process was mastered.
